Our Sustainability Promise

We are aware of our environmental impact. Like many, our concern about climate change is growing, which is why we have put in place a range of strategies to minimise our effect on the environment.

On top of this, we are aware that our customers are looking for designs and buildings that are functional yet environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

Below are the actions and processes we currently have in place to reduce our carbon footprint and construct environmentally friendly garden rooms. We are constantly looking at new ways we can achieve this.

Local Suppliers

For each of our projects, we use local suppliers for our materials and resources.

This minimises the travelling distances of our supplies, reducing the fuel used for each project and cutting vehicle emissions.

Single Deliveries

When ordering multiple supplies from the same vendor, we work to ensure everything is in one order. In doing this, we streamline the delivery process, ensuring that all necessary items arrive together on-site.

This reduces the journeys taken by delivery vehicles, as well as the overall distance travelled. As a result, we reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and greenhouse gases emitted by transportation.

Eco-Friendly Foundation Methods

The ground screws method is an environmentally friendly method for creating a foundation for our garden rooms.

There are several reasons for this:

  1. Reduces carbon emissions: this method requires minimal excavation and does not involve concrete. As the production process for concrete is a significant source of carbon emissions, removing the need for this material reduces our carbon emissions.
  2. Minimal disruption to the environment: this method simply requires drilling or screwing them directly into the ground. To do this, there is no need for excavation or soil disturbance. This minimises disruption to the surrounding area, preserving natural habitats and reducing the risk of soil erosion.
  3. Recycled materials: the screws used in this method are usually made from recycled materials such as steel or aluminium.
  4. Faster installation and dismantling: ground screws can be installed more quickly and with fewer resources compared to concrete slabs, reducing construction time and associated environmental impacts.

Where possible, we will always choose to use this method in place of using the older, more traditional method of concrete slabs. We will survey your site at the beginning of the process to determine whether your site is suitable.

Zero Waste To Landfill

Landfills are a large contributor to the release of greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide.

To reduce our contribution to this, we take any waste made from our products to local recycling centres rather than tips and landfills. This ensures that as much of our waste is recovered, recycled and reused as possible, going towards cleaner energy sources and materials.

Energy Efficient Buildings

We understand that making the design and construction process sustainable is only part of our challenge. We want our garden rooms to be environmentally friendly too, as they will form part of our legacy.

With this in mind, we ensure that every bespoke garden room is energy-efficient.

We achieve this through certain specifications of our rooms being offered as standard. This includes double-glazed windows and doors, 50mm insulation under the flooring, 100mm slab insulation in the walls and ceiling and a flat roof with an EDM rubber covering.

You can also choose to enhance your garden room’s energy efficiency by upgrading to triple-glazing, should you wish.

Each of these aspects works to ensure heat retention within the room during the colder months so that you use minimal energy to warm the space up. The insulation also ensures that hot temperatures during the summer months are kept out, so you don’t have to use energy to cool the room down either.

Garden Rooms Made To Last

Finally, our garden rooms are built to stand the test of time. This is important for us because it means we can reduce the work done on each garden room in the future. Specifically, this means that there is no need to replace a garden room, therefore reducing the use of resources and energy used to create and transport them.
